In recent years India has seen an influx of foreign DJ's to its shores. Now, a UK dance label is paying them a pioneering visit on a mission to pave the way for Dance music on the Indian subcontinent. Defected Records has experienced the vibe and is encouraging other to do the same. Over the past decade, (and in no small measure, thanks to the internet), clubbers in India have been gradually discovering the joys of Dance music, following their favourite global DJs and producers, filling floors in clubs across the country on nights that their local DJs play and coming out in their hundreds when on rare occasions, a quality international DJ visits their city for a guest set. It's this new found enthusiasm for dance that Defected have warmed to. Simon Dunmore the Defected Records head of A & R recently visited India; it was this visit that sparked a passion for the sound and also when he experienced the country's vibe firsthand. Quick to recognise this potential the label has released 'Defected In the House – Goa 09' mixed by Simon Dunmore, ATFC and DJ Pearl. This is the first project of its kind. "This mix will to bring you to Goa... or bring the beach parties of Goa to you". DJ Pearl. DJ Pearl is India's most up and coming house music DJ, already a familiar face on the international dance scene. She helped found and is the main resident at 'Submerge' the biggest pan Indian house music collective. She is the ideal choice to provide a slice of the sound that is emerging in India. ATFC is the nearest you will get to a household name in dance music. He is famed for his previous chart topping releases Bad Habit, 'Sleep Talk' and 'In and Out of My Life'. He has recently enjoyed a renaissance with a whole host of new productions and remixes. Notable 'Praise to the JB's', 'Juss a Beat' and his phenomenal rework 'Bad Habit 2008' – listen out for these on the mix, they are simply essential. Simon Dunmore is the Defected label head and international DJ that pioneers the Defected Sound internationally. He has been responsible for signing and breaking some of the biggest and best loved club anthems enjoyed across the world on dance floors over the last 10 years. During this time, the Defected in the House series have come to be recognised as an Industry standard for quality dance compilations and the Goa edition is the latest, as well as the first step in what is a focused effort to bring increased awareness into dance music's final frontier on this planet - the Indian subcontinent. This package contains 3 diverse mixes. Commencing with sublime house with a touch of Soul the mix steadily progresses to a peak time main room club sound. A sound that DJ Pearl admits that is what you would experience if you were on the sun soaked beaches in Goa. To cement its commitment to the Indian music scene Defected have been invited to host their own stage at a new exotic festival in Goa. The Sunburn festival is a new 3 day event that showcases the best the West has to offer pitted against India's new breed of DJ. Defected also has plans to tour its DJ's across the rest of the country. India is an exciting new territory and one that will provide clubbers and dance music DJ's with a great deal of opportunity for the future.
