Defected Records soul-boy boss Simon is a fanatical collector of vinyl, with over 10,000 records organised by label, and with those he most loves and respects, Motown, Philly, Salsoul, Strictly Rhythm, all taking centre-stage. Simon has always had a vision that his own label, Defected Records would one day be as revered and respected as those other labels, and that the Defected section will have pride of place in the collection of any self-respecting dance music fan. This is a two disc compilation with 30 classic tracks bar two, Martin Solveig ‘I’m A Good Man’, with more than a hint of James Brown and the awesome instant Soul classic by Ron Hall & The MuthaFunkaz ‘The way you love me’ which has been embraced by all who have the pleasure to hear it. Deep Down & Discofied is a new compilation series which showcases exactly what Defected are about. Aptly named as Deep stands for “The Soul”, Down Stands for “The Funk” and well “Discofied” (ahem) is self explanatory.
