Wayne Hemingway’s award-winning Vintage Festival returns this summer, continuing its celebration of seven decades of ‘British cool’ across music, dance, fashion, food, art, design and film. Over 150 DJs have already been confirmed to help highlight the role and history of dance music within that cultural mix.
The illustrious designer’s original event – last year – took place at Goodwood and earned praise among media, social commentators and members of the public alike. This year, festivities switch to the South Bank Centre and Royal Festival Hall, July 29-31, and feature catwalk shows by Jo Wood and Pearl and Daisy Lowe, next to performances by soul legend Percy Sledge and 60s icon Sandy Shaw.
In terms of Vintage’s dance and electronic line-up, attendees can expect performances from the likes of Norman Jay, Andrew Weatherall, Greg Wilson and A Guy Called Gerald; not to mention sets from electronic pioneers Alan Wilder (Depeche Mode) and Thomas Dolby.
