Legendary Chicago house label Trax Records is releasing a special 25th anniversary album this autumn featuring classic cuts by the likes of Hercules, Ralphi Rosario and Jungle Wonz.
Trax Records was founded in 1986 by Larry Sherman, ‘Screamin’’ Rachael Cain, Jesse Saunders and Vince Lawrence, and quickly became a reputable byword for the rise of house music. Cain still runs the label today alongside artist Jorge Cruz.
Trax’s 25th anniversary compilation includes Hercules’ Lost In The Groove, Jungle Wonz’ Time Marches On, Jamie Principle & Frankie Knuckles’ It’s A Cold World, Virgo’s Do You Know Who You Are?, Chuck Roberts’ seminal In The Beginning and Ralphi Rosario’s You Used To Hold Me. It is accompanied by a DVD, The House That Trax Built, documenting the label’s monumental history.
Looking forward, Trax is reportedly preparing new releases via hip-house newcomers MFTD, DJ Fade and DJ Swank; Cain is also preparing a film script based on the Trax story.
Trax Records: The 25th Anniversary Collection is released on October 18.
