Quality London deep dance imprint Third Ear is to launch a jazz-driven sub-label, Groovemental, early next year.
The new operation is primarily a platform for studio material by band Dumb Machines, well-known for striking jazz covers of house and rock anthems. To that effect, The Machines launch Groovemental with a 10-inch vinyl package (out January 10) boasting covers of Armand Van Helden’s classic remix of Tori Amos’ Professional Widow and Carl Craig’s majestic re-rub of Theo Parrish’s Falling Up.
A digital-only Dumb release, The Grooves At The Back Of Our Minds Part 1, follows that (January 13), incorporating the 10-inch tracks and adding covers of David Bowie, Talking Heads and Yank jazz-piano legend Dave Brubeck.
