Detroit house talent Theo Parrish is reportedly releasing a CD compilation of his infamous Ugly Edits ‘bootleg’ work.
Details on label and release date are sketchy but it is thought that the 17-track album is an ‘official’ Parrish product. Parrish’ Ugly Edits, of course, are anything but official, representing a truly maverick take on vintage R&B, funk, soul and disco cuts by the likes of Jill Scott, Willie Hutch and Kool & The Gang.
There have been eight limited edition Ugly bootlegs – released on hand-sprayed 12”- since the first arrived in 2002; original presses are highly collectible. All 17 tracks on those slates are included on the new album; further details should be confirmed soon….
