New York-based Nicolas Jaar has become one of clubland’s favourite sons over the course of 2010 and will aim to build on his burgeoning star status with the release of a debut studio album early next year.

Space Is Only Noise will earn a release through off-kilter house label Circus Company next February, and promises to reflect Jaar’s similarly eclectic style – deep, meditative jams laced with quirky French vocals.

Jaar only released his first solo EP earlier this year but has quickly gained lofty comparisons to Aphex Twin and Ricardo Villalobos within key media circles. He has played everywhere from Fabric to Berlin’s Panorama Bar, and dropped various controversial ‘edits’ on cult imprint Wolf + Lamb – club forums have been awash with feverish debate for months now, arguing whether or not Jaar’s edits are art or sonic forgery. Jaar has kept his head down, regardless – he is actually still studying for university qualifications!

Space Is Only Noise will be released on February 14, 2011.
