Dubbed-out electronica duo Cage & Aviary, who have been building up a suitably mellow head of steam on the road this year (with gigs in London and Berlin), are finally set to release their debut studio album; a project at one time scheduled for release this summer.
Migration offers a decent snapshot of Cage & Aviary’s broad-minded musical vision, touching upon deep, languid disco, live percussive burnouts, feverish synth-funk and low-slung house. The record follows releases on Dissident and DFA; its collaborators include former Primal Scream vocalist Denise Johnson.
Cage & Aviary are London-based Jamie Paton and Nigel of Bermondsey; the pair’s work, thus far, has attracted Erol Alkan, Tiga and James Murphy among loyal, high-profile fans.
Migration is released on Prins Thomas’ Internasjonal imprint on January 23, 2012.
