Various Artists - Code Red Miami Sampler (Code Red)
Code Red go all out with two samplers heading your way just in time for the WMC 2008, First up is the ever dependable Barbara Tucker & Marc Evans on a little track called ‘We Are’ with the ‘Muthafunkaz’ on the mix. A good quality deep Soulful track as you would expect from some of the biggest names in the Soulful House scene. Barbara Tucker and Marc Evans work so well together on this track and the two voices complement each other so well. Justin Michael is next up with yet again the ‘Muthafunkaz’ on the mix. Donnie Romello provides the vocal with an almost Michael Jackson-esque quality on his vocal. Another nice track on this sampler which will Knee Deep & DJ Spen – Gotta Have House is up next with Biblical Jones reciting spoken vocal over the top of a really nice female vocalist, Think Karizma - ‘4 The Love’ meets a Kathy Brown track with extra funk and pianos thrown in and you would be halfway there. Next up is Lisa Mack and ‘Where Do We Go’ with the production team of Thommy & Spen providing the magic on this. Almost a Jackin feel to this and catchy repetitive vocals, the highlight is the break is 3 min 40 into the track when it goes off and the track goes into 5th gear. Head straight for this track for soulful peaktime action. Michelle Weeks has two versions of her track ‘ A Purpose’ on the samplers. You have a choice of Jackin, tribal sounding 1200 Warriors mix as well as the Jinks providing the other one. This is typical Jinks style, Big pianos and extremely funky basslines which will easily stand out in any set. Slighty more peaktime action with the track entitled ‘Magic’ by Terry Thompson, this is along the lines of ‘Shine’ that was such a bit hit a few years ago. Jackin sounding beats as well as a little bit of a vocal working so well. (Antony Angell)
