Following on from the Vintage Grooves Hip Hop album (a set that has now unsurprisingly spawned a whole series), Seamless Records are delving into the world of funk and serve up another compilation handpicked by the legend that is Ian Dewhirst. The album contains quite a cross section of cuts from more underground offerings from Jackie Mclean and The Blackbyrds to some pretty blatant choices from the likes of Average White Band and Sly & The Family Stone. As with the first compilation, this probably won’t win any awards for unearthing exclusive rare gems, but with all the tracks featuring full 12” mixes this is still worth checking out. (CZ)
