Regular aficionados of the Southport Weekender series will note the change of label, but that is pretty much the only difference from the previous four albums. Once again the UK’s favourite weekender serves up a top-drawer collection. On selection duty for volume five are Kenny Dope and Terry Hunter, each producing slamming mixes crammed full of tracks spanning over 20 years of dance music. Highlights include Soul Fuzion’s I Got Rhythm, Terry Hunter’s Be Thankful and the still sublime Alright by Urban Soul. But all 33 tracks make this comp worth every penny. (Curtis Zack)
