For the uneducated, Satoshi Tomiie is the Def Mix producer who originally started life playing the keys for Knuckles, Morales and co. He stepped out from the shadows several years ago and in truth he has never looked back, as here he delivers what is arguably the finest Renaissance compilation to date. Gone are the progressive drones that were at one time synonymous with the club, as the Tommie mix centres itself around some of the finest underground house grooves. Tracks of note come from Shur-I-Kan, who never fail to impress, Franck Roger and Jimpster who pops up on a couple of occasions most notably with Dangly Panther. This should appeal to a whole range of house music aficionados, as it is a decent old fashioned house music. (Curtis Zack)
