Various - Miami 2010 [SoulHeat Records]

So the Miami season is upon us and the Miami samplers are flowing think and fast, SoulHeat Records give us a taste of what’s to come with 9 tracks that are as much varied as unique. We will start with JedSet and Give Up, a slightly Tribal influenced sound with a catchy rift running in the back ground, this track as live instrument feel to it and is a nice instrumental track that is infused with the Miami sun. Next is Tom De Neef Vs UNess and Jedset featuring the fantastic Kaysee on vocals, this that has that Soulful edge with a little bit of Mainroom mixed in. Kaysee delivers us an outstanding vocal that will set the mood around the pool during Miami and into the summer season and beyond, big vocals and piano are most definitely the order of the day on this track.

Next on this sampler is DJ Floy and Back To The Homeland the Club mix which is so far the most mainroom track, big synths and a nice breakdown section in the middle which has a live bongo feel to it, very percussion led track that would drop into a Louie Vega style set. So we continue with the fine music with Sweet Coffee and Daylight, the track starts with a big piano and continues the way it started with an amazing piano breakdown and a fantastic vocal. Not only is this a good vocal but the song itself is worthy of very high praise, this has to be the standout track on sampler, quality. We are half way through the sampler and next is WUMM and Dlight and this has the mainroom vibe going on with a loop section on the keys that is reminiscent of Karizma style stuff. Samson Lewis and In Flat 3 is next to grace us, not sure where the title came from but this track has an excellent potential for being used and abused by accappellas, Church organs and a nice rolling bass all work so well.

DJ Floy yet again makes another appearance with Laly Floy, a different direction with this track from his last offering; this mix is rolling piano heaven and ideal for getting those hands in the air moments. Two more tracks to go and next is the very Deeper sound of Logan and his Dataspirit which reminds me of a cross of Faithless and Brainbug – Nightmare but in a good way, can you remember the strings section well this is similar but with a very nice House beat and some piano going on and a few nice breakdowns, not what I was expecting but extremely good all the same. Finally on this package is Thomas Brener and For You, a live feel with some nice vocals delivered by MC Eve which has a 70s vibe going on, very Joey Negro.

This has to be one of the best Miami 2010 samplers I have heard so far, excellent standout tracks including Sweet Coffee and Logan. This has to be a must for your cd wallets during March and all the way into the summer. (Antony Angell)
