Various - MIX THE VIBE: TEDDY DOUGLAS & DJ SPEN (King Street)

Headlines
Original Basement Boy Teddy Douglas and the young pretender DJ Spen hook up once more for the latest in King Street's long-running Mix The Vibe series.
CD One sees Douglas take the reins and kicks off how it means to go on with Time & Time Again from Sublevel. Also included on the first CD is the excellent Coro by Kerri Chandler and Kimara Lovelace's Where Can Our Love Begin. Flip over to CD Two and Spen doesn't disappoint with a mix that ebbs and flows across 17 tracks of soulfulness. Kicking off with his remix of Chieko Kinbara's Changed My Life, his mix also features countless tracks from all the usual King St suspects.
One personal gripe with the album is that I would have liked to have seen the guys given an opportunity to dig out some of the early Basement Boys tracks, although I guess that isn't the point of the series. Still even without that, this is a very solid comp. (Curtis Zack)
