Various - Disco Heaven [Hed Kandi]

It’s that time dust off your disco shoes and get down to the Disco Heaven groove. Another instalment of the collection finds 24 of the finest disco tracks around and there has to be no better way to start than with Joey Negro & The Sunburst Band and Sitting on Top Of The World with DJ Meme on the mix. The infections sing-a-long Galaxy by the one and Only DJ Spen is up next.  The disco infused Who’s Been Sleeping In My Bed is also on this disc, it very Joey Negro style races the anti with some feelgood vibes.  Peppermint Jam dish up the track that everyone is talking about, it is of course La La La, strong latino vibes with a soothing guitar. Other notable tracks on this disc include Jay C and The Music and Roamin Curtis & Seamus Haji and Ive Been Looking

Disc Two has a hard job to follow on from part one but it put on its finest clothes and opens with the excellent Roberto De Carlo and You Are The One For Me, Roberto has made the classic –Train well and truly his own.  Hed Kandi’s very own Dean Rigg and Chris Bailey step from behind the turntables and into the studio to produce a masterpiece of a remix on Jay C’s track Rollin. The funky disco diva herself Jocelyn Brown is up with Better Life with DJ Neo on the mix, as you would expect from Jocelyn a very strong vocal performance. One of the standout tracks on both these discs has to be Brave New World by Grant Nelson, brilliant piano and atmospheric seeps with just the right amount of vocals, as in past years Grant has given us a summer classic. Finally but nowhere least The Collective (Martin ‘Mayhem’ Iken, Hed Kandi’s John Jones and Steve Norman) give us an explosive rework of the classic Joe Smooth and Promised Land, DJ Meme is on fine form with mix. A very disco-tastic album which is ideal for getting ready to go out and after the club. (Antony Angell)
