Various – Lil' Louie Vega: Back In The Box (NRK)

Headlines
Following on Joey Negro’s initial Back In The Box mix and what was potentially one of the compilations of the year, it’s now the turn of MAW’s Louie Vega to dig deep, delivering two-and-a-half hours of true house music classics that sound as good today as they did in the first time around. All 30 of the cuts are gems with CD1 featuring classics from Todd Terry, Crystal Waters, Gerideau and the Cleptomaniacs. If that isn’t enough then skip on over to the second disc where you get Reese Project, Sounds of Blackness, the irresistible Let Me Show You Love from Romanthony and also arguably MAW’s finest hour, Kenlou's The Bounce. With so many compilations around it’s a pretty tough ask to produce something that stands out, but with this so reminiscent of Louie’s sets in the early 90s, it does it perfectly. (Curtis Zack)
