Being the protégés of a certain Mr Dennis Ferrer, The Martinez Brothers have a lot to live up to. Thankfully their first release on new label Objective does not disappoint, being a deep yet soulful excursion into Tech House which is likely to fit perfectly into the sets of underground DJ’s from across the board. Heavy sub base, spacey Detroit style keys and African influenced percussion have been the staple diet for producers such as Carl Craig and Kerri Chandler for years, yet The Martinez Brother’s interpretation of these familiar elements make more than the some of their parts on “My Rendition”. If you’re a fan of Dennis Ferrer, Jerome Sydenham or any of the guys that are producing this kind of soul tech (No not another sub genre I hear you cry!) then you are sure to enjoy this fine track.
