We get deep, down and dirty here with the latest release from Sandy Rivera’s recently revived Blackwiz label. Get It Back contains a very simple formula. Chugging along nicely at 125bpm, the intro comprises deep beats, shakers and a distant, ghostly, reverbed vocal, before kicking in with the dark bassline and the full, catchy vocal. But the breakdown is something else. The bleeps gently fade in, the vocal loop kicks off, the percussion kicks in, and it all comes to a rather large peak, before everything stops and you’re left with just the bass and the kick – not to mention total dancefloor devastation. Sandy’s Almost Dub mix is another dark horse lurking on the flip, showing a more progressive style. You’ll also find an instrumental version of the original for those who are not keen on the vocals.
