Lefthander Ft Pouyah - Breaking New Ground [One51]

One51 continue the quality summer releases with this fine offering from Lefthander featuring Pouyah. After a couple of years this track has definitely returned with a bang, with four mixes from Richard Earnshaw, Miles Borrero, Undertone’s Rhythmic Vocal and also the Original.

First up is the Miles Borrero version, this track has an edge over the other mixes as a brilliant trumpet is present on this mix along with a broken beat almost Jazz feel to it, some very nice keys work well under the trumpet and the spoken French word. The Original is next with a deep Jazz affair that is full of atmospheric sweeps and the same brilliant spoken word.

The Undertones step up a few gears with a Jazz-infused House version that really rocks any party, strong piano keys and a stripped down vocal. A few little scratching fx and a completely different take on the other two mixes. Then finally is Earnshaw’s Undertone Re-Touch, this mix is only slightly altered but for the better. As you would expect from Richard he gives us a quality production with a few more drums and a nice Organ chugging away in the background.

Good to see One51 back with such a bang, a long time coming but well deserved. Im looking forward to the next instalment from this inspiring label and more tracks to light up the floors with good quality House. (Antony Angell)
