Soulful brothers Bobby & Steve dig deep in the crates on this release revisiting the 80’s Boogie classic “Barley Breaking Even” original recorded by The Universal Robot Band way back in 1982. Roping in Leroy Burgess on vocals, who in fact performed in the original recording and voiced a ton of great disco hits on labels like Salsoul and Moonglow, Bobby & Steve simply take the great melody and driving synthesizers that made the original so great and let Mr Burgess go to work on it. After all the old saying does ring true, “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it”! On remix duty David Harness provides a more laid back approach, however it is the original Bobby & Steve Zoo Groove Mix that will be doing the damage on the dance floors. If you like Joey Negro-esque disco flavours you will not go far wrong with this track!
