DJ Hell – Misch Masch (Fine)

Headlines
This double-disc of demonic house music from DJ Hell has the potential to be the mix album of the year. And it's only January. The first CD takes in a painfully funky selection of electronic delights, from the likes of Robert Hood ('Rhythm'), Theo Parrish (the glorious Carl Craig mix of 'Falling Up') and Huntemann's devastating '37 Degrees'. Ame's all-encompassing 'Rej' even makes an appearance in its beatless form. Meanwhile, CD 2 is a thinly-veiled, unmixed ego trip from the Berliner, showcasing his mixes of Grace Jones' I've Seen That Face Before, the Pet Shop Boys' West End Girls and Chelonis R Jones' Deer In The Headlights among many other glistening highlights. If we'd produced mixes like these, however, we'd have an ego the size of Alaska too. (BA)
