Cobblestone Jazz – Put Da Lime In Da Coconut (Wagon Repair)

Headlines
More bubbling, wobbly minimalism from Wagon Repair, and indeed Cobblestone Jazz, the collective moniker for WR main man Mathew Jonson, Danuel Tate and Tyger Dhula. Those who enjoy their house music tinged with insanity will love Put Da Lime In Da Coconut, with its undulating, nagging synth rolling over and over, while a solid kick and twinkling hats keep the groove grinding. Throw in some slightly scary, incomprehensible distorted vocals for good measure, and this is dark house at its spooky best. You might even say it's trance, but more like the kind Sven Vath peddled in the good old days rather than the utter day-glo nonsense that pervades the scene today. Over is Saturday Night, a track far less celebratory that the title suggests. It's a moody, 4am freak out, and all the better for it. Be assured, Jonson and friends are on some unstoppable form.
