The Sound Of 4th Floor & Sub-Urban

What do Todd Terry, Tommy Musto, Victor Simonelli, Arnold Jarvis, Barbara Tucker and Jazz n’ Groove all have in common? In the years between 1987 and 2005 they all produced or recorded for either Sub-Urban or 4th Floor Records, two of House music’s most enduring Record Labels.

Now, we present Volume 4 of this timeless collection of repertoire from two labels that simply ooze with history. Both based in New York, these deep House imprints have worked hand in hand to deliver some sublime cuts that have had global support from some of scenes heavyweight DJ and producers, including DJ Spen, John Julius Knight and Enzyme Black, who have respectively compiled the previous three volumes of this well received album series.

Volume 4 delivers some impeccable material from the vaults with legendary club cuts from Johnny Corporate with ‘Sunday Shoutin’, Mike Dunn presenting The MD X-Press with ‘This Here Is House’, Tribute’s ‘Move It’ and the house master himself Kenny Dope also features with James Rouse on ‘Dance’. In-between you’ll find all the gems that set the bar for Deep House in the late 1980’s along with a bonus DJ mix from Defected Records catalogue director Carl Hanaghan.
