As the Ibiza season draws to a close, we look back over another incredible 4 months and thank the people that made it possible.
Every year we think that there’s nowhere left to go with our Ibiza adventures, but this season that was proved untrue before the party even started, with our sensational promotion to Saturday nights at Pacha. Filling Def Mix’s shoes was never going to be an easy task, but we think we’ve done a pretty decent job of it. In fact, Def Mix were a welcome addition to the Defected In The House regulars with two of the groups superstars – David Morales and Frankie Knuckles – packing Pacha to the rafters with thousands of fans.
Other familiar faces behind the hallowed decks of the world’s most glamorous club included the Shapeshifters, Junior Jack & Kid Crème (plus the inimitable MC Spike), Kenny Dope, ATFC, Copyright, Simon Dunmore and the omnipresent Shovell on percussion. The list is exhaustive and every party brought something new to the equation, whether it was a new track or remix being broken for the first time, a live PA from some of the most recognisable voices in House – including the legendary Ultra Nate performing ‘Free’ to a sell-out Strictly Rhythm crowd; a massive moment – or a new routine from the stunning Pacha dancers, it was hard not to leave the events without a smile plastered across your face.
And to top it all off in serious style, Michel Cleis' 'La Mezcla' has been awarded the prestigious title of 'Ibiza Tune of the Season' at the Ibiza DJ awards...click to read more about the award
It’s difficult to sum up and entire 4 months (and a good 6 months of planning beforehand) in a few words, so rather than try and inevitable fail, we invite you to see and hear exactly how good the parties were.
We’ve got live DJ sets from Frankie Knuckles, Junior Jack & Kid Crème, David Penn, ATFC, Miss Divine, Copyright and plenty more, plus Simon Dunmore’s set from the closing party on the 26th of September. Visit our mixes section to check them out.
We’ve also put together a ‘Best of Ibiza ‘09’ photo gallery so you can relive the beautiful moments and maybe spot yourself in the crowd.
And if you’re not even sure what we’re talking about, don’t forget that for a true musical taste of the island there's Defected In The House Ibiza ’09 – mixed by Copyright and featuring the live percussion of Shovell; a true original in the crowded compilation market.
Finally, we’d like to thank every one of you who made it over to party with us on the White Isle this season, and to those of you who couldn’t, while mixes and photos might give you an idea of what you’re missing out on, there’s nothing like the real thing.
See you next year…
