Since their launch in January 2011 Hi Rise and Lo Rise have had their sites firmly set on one goal, uncovering quality house gems in the soulful vocal and deep tracky genres respectively. Now less than six months since their inception they have between them built up an impressive catalogue spanning cuts from Tom Middleton, Maya Jane Coles, Youandewan, Guy Robin, Shonky and Simbad, a stunning arsenal in anyone’s book and the perfect amount of material to unleash a compilation on the world.
Cue Rise Up, a 15 track album documenting the label’s short but acclaimed history, mixed by label A&R guru Aaron Ross. With the possibility of a compilation on the horizon since the start, remixes were held back on various releases, which combined with a host of brand new edits result in a compilation that’s 100% exclusive!
Ian Pooley’s MPC dub of Baby Keep It Up is one of the first tracks finally seeing the light of day along with Guy Robin’s vocal dub of Walk Away. In fact, weeks of studio time have been racked up carefully dissecting and reworking the material, with Shonky getting a late night reworking and bonus track in the form of Aaron Ross ft. Sterling Ensemble and Cassio - Getting Hot, a true classic brought onto 2011’s dancefloor.
Rise Up Vol.1 mixed by Aaron Ross is out 1st August
