Ray Foxx - The Trumpeter

We’re going to stick our necks out a little here and make a prediction; that Ray Foxx is a name you’ll be hearing a fair bit over the months and years to come.

All we know about him for now is he’s a multi-instrumentalist and studio wizard, born and bred on the music. With influences stretching across the rockier tones of Guns N’ Roses and Jimi Hendrix to a firm love of the hip-hop beat with Timbaland, Dr Dre and beyond into the genius realms of Quincy Jones, The Prodigy and Eric Prydz we feel that with this pedigree Foxx is about to be beguile the whole world with his cunning.

Now, Ray has produced a track that has unanimously united the most influential of dance music tastemakers, and one that we are extremely excited to be involved with.

The initial release drops on Defected June 8th and with heavy support from BBC Radio 1’s Annie Mac, Zane Lowe and Trevor Nelson and championed by DJ Target and Mistajam at BBC Radio 1Xtra naming just a few, ‘The Trumpeter’ is simply the hottest dance productions currently tearing up the airwaves.

“We played this last week… Ray Foxx, that’s Foxx with two XXs, a track called the Trumpeter… went down so well with you and us, we thought it was only right to give it another spin… get ready for the drop people and don’t say I didn’t warn you!” Annie Mac, BBC Radio 1

“The sound of the Balearics right here on the world famous Radio 1… as the days get longer and warmer so the beaches are calling out.. Ray Foxx is in the building!” Zane Lowe, BBC Radio 1

A further sign of how big this record is blowing up; the publishers of DMC’s Ibiza Buzz Chart got in touch just before they announced this year’s upfront chart saying they had heard ‘The Trumpeter’ and wanted to include it as a last minute add at the top spot.

The production is quite simply staggering, with a bass that’s so heavy it made Annie Mac rewind the record live on air when it kicked in. This coupled with a ridiculously hooky cameo from the eponymous trumpeter simply means this is one record that looks set to hit the sky and keep going for some time! Even before Ray Foxx emerges from his den!

Ray Foxx ‘The Trumpeter’ is out 8th June
