Kevin Saunderson describes compiling his In The House compilation – out this week.
“For me, mixing and compiling this compilation from different artists as well as some of my own tracks is just a true spirit of how I play in my sets. It’s not all about banging techno, it’s really a combination.
“I grew up listening to Larry Levan, Ron Hardy, Toni Humphries and I moved into techno as I moved to Detroit. I’m like a cross breed; I like it all as long it is good and as long as it works. It depends on the type of party I’m playing, but mix is typically how I like to build up my set in general.
“On this compilation one of the tracks that really stands out is Osunlade’s ‘Envision’. It’s grooving, it has a lot feeling, emotion, spirit, it has a lot of character and it’s driving and it’s deep.
“Robert Hood is still doing it and still around, he went quiet for a while but he is back with a bang, and his track is definitely banging!
“Kweku Saunderson, obviously has a name of a Saunderson but he doesn’t only carry the name; I believe he is extremely talented and you are going to be hearing a lot more about him in the future.
“This mix is what Kevin Saunderson is about”
