Human Life are all about the love, and regularly provide mixes to give their fans an idea of which tunes are rocking their world at any given time. This summer however, they’ve gone a little overboard, dropping not one but two full-length DJ mixes for your aural engagement. Here’s Human Life's Matt Walsey to explain…
For our Summer DJ mix we decided to split up the project into two parts: daytime and nightime to show two different sides of our sound. As our fans know, we get excited about both melodic and sunny tracks as well as deep and dark sounds, so what better way to really show everyone what Human Life is all about than two open up our minds and share everything.
Human Life DJ Mixes by Human Life
First off is our Daytime mix. We start out with a tune that really signifies summer to us, Mylo's remix of Niki & The Dove. It's just so grooving and melodic we can’t help but smile! It's also in our opinion the best mix Mylo has done in years and it’s amazing to see him back in the game! From there we run through some more fun tracks to set the summer vibe in flow.
One of our favourite songs on this mix comes from our new friend Louie Fresco. Here we've included his remix of Modern Amusement which features an irresistible Bobby Brown sample. We really love this song and it just works amazingly on the dancefloor. Afterwards we switch gears a bit and play some more melodic tunes including the new remix from our mentor Alan Braxe. If this track doesn’t scream summer we aren’t sure what does…just such amazing synths.
Then we take a little turn towards the deep end of the pool with a few of our favourite tracks of the moment. First a remix from Soul Clap and then a tune we can’t stop listening to, ‘Keep My Cool’ by Lee Foss. Lee has just been smashing it lately with his Hot Creations label and this track is one of the best he's released.
For the rest of the daytime mix we up the ante a little with each track, so by now hopefully you've finished a margarita or two and are ready to dance! We run through some of the best ‘French Touch 2.0’ tracks out at the moment and then premiere two of our own new songs. First up is ‘Uptown’, a Chicago House influenced dancefloor track that we will be giving away for free very soon. And then we debut the Frankie Knuckles remix of 'In It Together'. No pump up needed, Frankie killed it! Lastly we end off with a song that is simply beautiful, the Eumig & Chinon remix of Yelle; we could listen to this one all day.

To ease ourselves into the night, we've kicked things off with an emotional track from LOL Boys. If you haven’t heard of these guys yet, you're slacking! They have been putting together some really next level music of late and ‘LDR’ is no exception. We continue the warm-up with some more deep and melodic tracks until we come upon DJ Harvey's remix of Logic System. You may feel yourself becoming a bit disconnected from the party at this point as this song really has the power to take us into another dimension. Bass frequencies have the ability to elicit physical responses from the body (true fact), and Harvey really took that to heart here.
Next we keep the deep vibe going and then take a short break from the trip to have some fun with The Rapture's ‘Thong Song’ as many have nicknamed it (listen close to the melody and you'll see why). From there we play what may actually be our favorite song of 2011 so far in Todd Terje's ‘Ragysh’. This track is just pure perfection. Every time you think you might start to get sick of the song he comes in with a new element that surprises you. It's been years since Todd released a new original and it was worth the wait in our opinion.
Skipping forward a bit you'll find two brand new Human Life remixes on this mix. First is our re-work of 'In It Together' and then our remix of Housquare's ‘Chicago’. As you'll hear, we tapped into Josh's Chicago roots and put together an acid tinged warehouse track that’s gotten great feedback.
Before closing out the mix we couldn’t help but get a lil’ bit of BASS up in this party so don’t be scared when you hear Gessafelstein's ‘Aufstand’…no late night gathering is complete without a bit of techno. And to finish things off, a track that has some of the best lyrics of the year, ‘Bass Face’. "We put the ravers and the gods on the same place".... indeed!
You made it through? Congrats! Our advice is catch the sunrise, come down slowly and remember we'll be back in the fall with more!
In It Together Remixes are available now from Beatport, Traxsource and D Store
