Fresh from two phenomenal London performances as part of the Defected In The House Live Weekend, Candi Staton will be touching down in Ibiza this weekend for a very special one-off performance at Pacha.
On Saturday 31st July, she will be joining Junior Jack & Kid Creme, Quentin Harris and Aaron Ross to perform one of the all-time classic dance tracks, her very own ‘You Got the Love’.
The track was first released in 1986, but it was the 1991 version that you’re most likely to recognise. This version by DJ Eren took the instrumental version of Frankie Knuckles & Jamie Principles track ‘You Love’ and layered Candi’s vocal over the top, giving the song a new-found dancefloor credibility and inadvertently giving birth to one of the greatest mash-ups of all time.

More recently, Florence and the Machine made a hugely respectful and successful version of the track, which was included on their album and performed regularly at their live gigs.
“Florence and the Machine brought it to a new generation” said Candi “but it’s the words that make it so special. Who doesn’t feel like throwing their hands up in the air sometimes?”

Candi’s performance comes off the back of an incredible couple of shows last weekend. She enthused about the reaction when we spoke to her minutes after coming off stage.
“It feels so special to be up on stage” she said. “The people were so great and you could really feel them; there was definitely a synergy there.”
