Viva Espana!
It really was party time on the island this week, but this time it was a little less about the tourists and more about VIVA ESPAGNE as Spain won the football! I hate football but I love Spain so I couldn’t help but get a little excited about this and show my support to the country that has shown me such a good time over the last few years. Although I didn’t watch it as I was in the middle of yet another power cut, I was very happy when fireworks exploded around us and the sound of car horns filled the air! It was time to go and celebrate at Space…
We needed to get there first, which wasn’t as easy as we had hoped. We got into the car and joined the army of Spanish flag-draped hooting cars on the roads. Everyone was hanging out the windows cheering and for once the police couldn’t care less! We got involved too as it was hard not too and we were genuinely pleased for them. Once we arrived at the taxi rank where we planned to drop the car off, there were absolutely no taxis so we had to drive all the way there. The roads were mental…you couldn’t even get out of the towns in a normal way but we hooted all the way to Space where the fiesta would carry on! London ‘Cerca Trova’ were in the RedBox as guest hosts for the Burlington Project. Rossko and Daniel smashed it (as they always do) and even Steve Lawler rocked up to party after he finished his set downstairs.
Later on in the week I decided to relieve my party-damaged feet by something I have wanted to check out for quite some time…fish therapy! This involves a tank of small fish nibbling on your feet eating away the dead skin and apparently leaving some healing fluid behind them. I decided to do this on the Pacha terrace which wasn’t so relaxing and I was like a fish in a goldfish bowl myself with all the people gawping at me, but then that was quite appropriate I suppose!
I was instructed to take my shoes off and put them beside the tank and then wash my feet in a bowl before sitting carefully on the side and swinging my legs in without stepping on any of the fish at the bottom of the tank. Suddenly they are swarming around my feet and hanging on for dear life…it was quite disgusting and I felt more tense than relaxed. I also had to endure all the people walking by saying ‘eurgh’ and ‘gross’ and then taking pictures of me, but it was fun and an experience at least. I started to get over the weirdness and just let them nibble away and 15 minutes later I really did have softer feet! Walking back into the main room of F*** Me I’m Famous was a little unnerving though as I was convinced I still had fish nibbling on my feet but – luckily for the fish – I’d managed to leave them all in the tank where they belonged.
We’re in peak season now and the Island is super busy so our party is even more packed! We welcomed Junior Jack & Kid Creme back with Mc Shurakano and also Riva Starr and our very own Simon Dunmore. The parties are just getting better and better and this one didn’t disappoint. Everyone is talking about Defected In The House this summer and how Pacha really is where it’s at, so don’t miss out on the best night out if you’re over. The party vibe on a Saturday is just the best and it seems like everyone just wants to have fun this summer.
Time for a cocktail...
Adios!
