Hola from the hottest June Ibiza has seen for a while; hot weather, hot people and an even hotter opening party! We opened our summer season with a bang on Saturday with sets from Simon Dunmore, Riva Starr and Bob Sinclar. There weren’t a still pair of feet in the club with people dancing all night long to a varied selection of tunes from 3 very different – but equally enjoyable – DJs. The crowd had a sing along to Hey Hey, enjoyed a very sexy stage show by the Pacha dancers and cavorted under a cloud of confetti every now and then. It was the busiest I have seen Pacha in a long time and definitely a clear indication that Defected In The House is the place to be every Saturday this summer!
Whilst Bob was over here, myself and Nick Navaro – of Defected TV fame – decided to catch up with him on the balcony of his suite at The Gran Hotel. Whilst he was doing some presenting for the next Clubland Adventures show, I had a think about what kind of things I would like to know about Bob Sinclar. After the three of us later watched a game of tennis on the TV (Bob is a keen player), I asked him what Bob Sinclar would do if he ruled the world? Simple answer; he would simply build an island and fill it with only women! He would be a busy boy wouldn’t he?! Oh, and if anyone wants to know what Bob does when he gets up in the morning it’s this: He gets up, checks out the weather and if it’s sunny he sunbathes beside his Jacuzzi. Anyone a little bit jealous!??
In other opening party news, as I told you at the end of my last blog, I went and partied at the much anticipated Circo Loco at DC10 last Monday. The crème de la crème of underground cool were hanging out in between playing some blinding sets. Clive Henry is uber-excited about the season to come and so it seems is everyone! Mayhem was rife, inflatables were being thrown around and every 10th head was clad in a red clown wig. Zip managed to get every single person in the terrace sitting on the floor for about 5 minutes before the place jumped up again and the madness carried on. Speaking of Madness, Chas Smash was showing his famous dance moves off at our opening party on Saturday (maybe one for the older readers amongst you...it was Simon Dunmore who pointed him out).
Before I go I must mention a very famous bar I am sure you have all heard of – Cafe Mambo in San Antonio. It attracts a healthy mixture of famous DJs (DJ Sneak was there yesterday), the Pacha crew, groups of 20-something’s on holiday and families. This is probably down to the attitude free, friendly way that it is run. It is owned by Javier who runs it with his two sons Alan and Christian; they're both always down there themselves getting the posters up for the night, chatting to everyone who come down and making sure everyone really is having a good time - the personal touch! The most personal of them all being Alan and Christian picking the strawberries themselves in the morning before the sun gets too hot from their father’s garden for their famous daiquiris. Come down and taste these knowing where they come from whilst watching the sun go down at our Defected In The House pre-parties on a Saturday…now!!
