¡Feliz cumpleanos! Circo Loco!
Yesterday was an Epic Adventure in the madness that is DC10. I arrived around 7pm to catch Clive Henry on the terrace dropping classic house masterpieces. The place was already going off and there was still 7 hours to go...bring it on! What I love about DC10 is that it’s not too big and not too dark so it doesn’t matter if you lose your friends. I actually love losing my friends in there and going for a wander by myself. If you’re a regular clubber then you are sure to always bump into the next group of friends you know. It’s great for people watching too if you want to sit down for a bit and the drinks aren’t quite as overpriced as everywhere else (€10 instead of €17 for a spirit and mixer!)
After some time with the friends I actually came with and a wander off on my own it was time to head ‘backstage’ to the little area not many people know about and many want to be in; an unpretentious VIP where big name DJs are hanging out without being surrounded by security and partying the same as everyone else. Damian Lazarus, Seth Troxler and Jamie Jones were all there. Some were still out from Space on Sunday, some were just making a flying visit in between European gigs. After hanging out there myself for a bit it was time to head back onto the terrace and who should show up but P. Diddy over for his date at Subliminal on Wednesday. Him and Matthias Tanzemann side by side in the DC10 DJ booth…this would not happen anywhere else than in Ibiza surely?!
Although, the majority of the DC10 crowd aren’t exactly P.Diddy fans, no one could resist getting a snap of the infamous rap star. Sadly, he did have a crew with him who tried to shuffle veryone out of his way, but no one really took much notice…no room for stardom here! He of course had a group of girls around him but just ignored them and walked off as soon as he decided to, so I’m not sure they will have gotten very far with him…no new J-Lo’s s as far as I could see!
Back into the main room sometime later and Jade Jagger hasn’t even bothered with the VIP and is busy partying to Jamie Jones who is playing a brilliant set and certainly deserves the amazing reputation he has got for himself in the past year or so. Lazarus closes the main room with a beautifully chosen Carl Craig remix of ‘Tides’. The perfect ending to a perfect rave!
We stumble out of the club and over to the car park that sits next to the airport. A scary amount of lights are facing us all which after that amount of partying you could easily think were aliens coming towards us but luckily they are just on top of poles firmly fixed into the ground. After finally finding the car we drive to a friends to drop a camera off that someone somehow had hold of and we agree to just get out for five minutes instead of waiting in the car. I don’t think any of us really believed this and 7 hours later we are still there, drinking ice tea. Well, with the crème de la crème of DJs from the party (Damian Lazarus, Jamie Jones and Clive Henry) deciding the tunes for you it would be rude to leave wouldn’t it?! So as the others head onto a villa party, it is time for me to hang up my party shoes and sleep and start to prepare myself for the Radio One weekend ahead.
It’s one of, if not THE busiest weekend of the Summer this weekend and its all kicking off at Ibiza Rocks this Friday with one of our own, Riva Starr who has smashed it so far at Defected In The House this Summer. Saturday is a Radio One weekend Cream Ibiza special but I’m sure it won’t affect Defected much which was just so amazing last weekend when we were joined by the true legend that is, Candi Staton. She totally blew me away doing a Live PA in between the brilliant Quentin Harris who was accompanied by a huge red frilly fan. Junior Jack & Kid Creme also more than delivered and there will be more of the same undoubtedly this weekend when my personal favourite Bob Sinclar returns and the nicest man in House Music, DJ Spen graces us for the first time this Summer.
Ciao for now!
