Hola!
Well September is in full swing, the weather has cooled down and it is perfect partying climate! I ticked another ‘thing to do before the end of the season’ off my list and found a beautiful restaurant- Amante. It was actually the location of the Kylie Minogue press conference when she was over earlier in the season and I can see why! It is located on the other side of Calla Llonga (near Santa Eularia). If you drive straight through the resort on the main road you will see it signposted off to the right. Up a dirt track and into a carpark I got out and put my flip-flopped foot straight into a deep puddle of mud- great. After smashing my flip flop against the car in an attempt to get it off I was left with a brown crusty foot to walk into this nice establishment with! It is set on a cliff in a cove. We got there just before it got dark so the sky is a mix of pinks and blues as you look over the calm sea from the terrace filled with rustic wooden tables. Down some steps and it is a little less formal with a mixture of more tables, sunbeds and beds covered in white cushions to relax with a jug of sangria on. Dinner wasn’t available until 8pm so this is where we settled for half an hour before making our way back up to the top terrace. The menu was an art piece in itself made from wood and cloth. Inside was a selection of modern mediterranean cuisine. I went for the panfried squid to start and then spaghetti with clams which were both just delightful! It’s not just a restaurant however and has been host to many parties- but that’s what you would expect from the owner, David Piccione, creator of Azuli records.
On Monday I went back to Cocoon, but this time I played the evening tactically- by not going to DC10 first! It’s an impossible feat for me nowadays. I hate to admit it but I just don’t have the stamina for it anymore and it ruins Cocoon when I arrive plastered in sweat and frizzy hair and at the stage of the night where I just need to sit in a comfy seat. I arrived at 1.30am (before the DC10 crowd arrive) and get straight in on the guestlist. Sadly our camera’s get taken off us but you can put them safely away for a couple of euros. The terrace was already getting busy and my friend and I have a drink whilst anticipating our other friends arrival who has just flown in especially! The dancers really are amazing in Cocoon, they don’t just pose but throw some amazing moves aswell and their costumes look like something straight out of Balenciaga which structured shoulders and a mix of black and gold soft leather. They all happen to have dark hair which is piled on the tops of their heads in various shapes of Mohican and ponytails. This is mixed in with some furry animal costumes (the theme is Party Animals). Our friend arrives and we head on up to the VIP- amazing if you can get in here as its really the only place to sit down in the club, apart from the toilet which I have had to resort to for a 5 minute sit down before. Villalobos, Sven Vath and Dinky all play through the night and of course it’s amazing. Ice cannons shoot down on us every now and then to keep us cool and I manage to last the night! The tactics worked!
Of course nothing beats our parties and last Saturday was another blast with David Penn and the Shapeshifters. It was also Sam from Copyright’s Birthday so we had a little party in the Pacha restaurant with champagne and sparklers! Just two parties left and 2 weeks on the island for me! I just can’t wait for Sandy Rivera to play this Saturday and then the big one next weekend. The closing Party with Bob Sinclar, Simon Dunmore, Miss Divine and Rae doing a Live PA. What a party to top off such an amazing season!
Bisous!
