Defected continue to celebrate a decade of dance with the release of Defected Clubland Adventures Vol.2
Spread across 3 CDs and including a commemorative booklet of Defected’s 10 Years In The House, this release represents the culmination of a long love affair with House music. Although by definition it is a retrospective album and highlights many of the label’s musical high points over its history, it is by no means merely a trawl through the back catalogue.
Much of the scene’s freshest talent is represented here by tracks that have barely seen the light of day and are exclusive to the compilation.
ATFC remains in the form of his life and provides two exceptional tracks; his own ‘I Called You (The Conversation)’ and his new remix of the awesome Sandy Rivera & Andy Daniell track ‘Whatever’. Both these have dropped within the last couple of weeks and are included on any mix for the first time here.
Also included are tracks from two artists new to the Defected ranks. Gel Abril’s ‘Spells of Yoruba’ has been one of the most played tracks of the year, with deep house, electro and techno DJs alike championing it’s stripped back chords and stabbing vocal chant. Similarly, Tapesh’s ‘Boya Chile’ has been doing some genre-hopping of its own, and with its off-key flute hook has been compared to Michel Cleis’ award-winning ‘La Mezcla’.
This is a compilation for looking forward as well as back, and represents a direction in which the label plans to continue moving over the coming months.
