This year the most pioneering House label the world has ever seen, Strictly Rhythm, is celebrating its 20 year anniversary.
While the music that the label releases has undeniably developed over the past two decades, the philosophy behind it remains absolutely intact. Armand Van Helden famously said of early Strictly contributor Todd Terry; “Todd invented the game, the rest of us are just playing it.” The sentiment could just of easily be applied when comparing Strictly Rhythm to every other House label in the world.
2009 marks the start of a global homage to the inimitable Strictly Rhythm. We kick start the party with a Strictly Special at Bloomingdales in Amsterdam. Strictly has built a reputation of finding the freshest new talent for its ranks, and this forte has continued throughout its 20 year history. Featuring Chocolate Puma, Aaron Ross, Afrojack, Daniel Bovie & Roy Rox, Ricky Rivaro, and Shermanolgy (live); each of the artist billed has released material on Strictly and are exceptional DJs in their own right.
Then, on Saturday 20th of June we invite you to a seriously exclusive shindig. Join legends Osunlade and Ben Westbeech, rising stars and the most talked about thing in House The Martinez Brothers and Defected top dog Simon Dunmore for the sickest boat party of the summer. £30 tickets include 4 hours on on-board dancing from 19.00-23.00 as well as access to Strictly Rhythm Aniniversary Party@ Ministry of Sound, 23:00-07:00 where you can catch all the boat DJs plus Chocolate Puma, Phil Cheeseman and Aaron Ross ‘till the early hours.
This is the first Strictly party of its kind and tickets will sell out. Tickets are exclusively available to Strictly, Defected and Ministry members until Friday 22nd May.
Keep your ear to the ground for news of more parties in a city near you, and the Strictly Anniversary compilation dropping later this year, and featuring remixes of seminal Strictly classics.
Long live Strictly Rhythm…
