Label History / Biography

Copyright are Gavin Mills and Sam Holt who have created Copyright recordings as a platform to release a wider range of music from Copyright themselves. Despite a mass market which seems to reward much tougher sounds, Copyright have stayed true to their roots, writing real songs and developing their soulful sound, whilst keeping the peak time dance-floor in mind. This is all done through their own imprint. �Having an outlet for any production means that you a freedom to explore and indulge in differing types of tracks.� Says Gavin Mills. Initially the label was created solely for this purpose, but over the past 3 years, several producers have submitted demos which the label simply had to release. The label has released anything from tribal house to broken beat, the common theme � it is house music with soul. Artists and remixers involved with the label have included Imaani, Shovell, Don E, Kloud 9, Zeke Manyika, Druw and Perez, Tasita D�Mour, Phillip Damien, Jon Cutler, Reel People, Knee Deep & Faze Action. Gavin and Sam have identified their favourite record on the label to date. �It would probably have to be Colombian Drum Cartel �The Shipment�, Says Sam - �We play this everywhere we go, a truly universal track! Made over 10 years ago, and re-released last year on the imprint.� Look out for future released and compilation projects on this label.
