Label History / Biography
One of House music’s truly original dons, both as a DJ & Producer, Sandy Rivera (aka Kings Of Tomorrow) re kick started his Black Wiz label in style in June 2005, originally conceptualised in 19934 in New York. Its dark and hypnotic groove saw Sandy embarking on a rawer and more experimental dancefloor journey since the success of his album, “Trouble” in 2004.
“Black Wiz was an old record label of mine, and everyone was always asking me when I was going to restart it. It has a special place in my heart, and a really decent old catalogue and it just felt right to go for it again” says Sandy.
“Just Won’t Do”, the very first original release was a partnership with the legendary Robert Owens, got the thumbs up from many of the tastemaker DJs . This bass heavy missile is helped to blow up the Black Wiz name. “Just Won’t Do’
Sandy needed a facility to be able to push out the tracks that really inspired him and allowed him cultivate new talent and showcase it on the label.
?“Black Wiz allows me breathe and lets me go back underground. The sound is raw from tracky trax to electro, peaky house, and goes right through to classic party house tunes. The label also allows me to be more driven in the studio and Black Wiz gives me the chance to take more risks” says the ebullient Sandy.
?As well as the collaboration with Robert Owens, Sandy is also unleashed a new artist LL Hall with the second Black Wiz release “Hope”. Also Stathis L - Music 4 Girls
Suroh – Sentimentos and Timmy Vegas & Andy Daniell Disco Shit, have all been excellent releases that have helped to shape the labels dynamic profile.
