Miss Divine is a free spirit with epic energy behind the dj box. In just a few short year’s Miss Divine has blown up on the international scene and quickly emerged as one of dance music’s most influential ladies. Her animated personality has given rise to an incredible, loyal following and repute for uplifting, positively energized House sets. Her charity event La Vita has set the standard for playing with compassion, and she recently became the first female dj signed to Defected Artist Management.

Born and raised in the Southwest of England, Miss Divine’s career has catapulted far and wide from the local Bristol bars and clubs she used to play. Now living in London, Miss Divine plays regularly at top clubs the world over, and monthly residencies in Naples, Poland and summer-long stints in Ibiza keep her, and dance floors across the UK and Europe, firmly on their toes. Stamping her presence on the white isle; her four year residency in Ibiza has taken her behind all the best boxes the party island has to offer, including; Pacha, Amnesia, Es Paradis, Eden, Savannah, Mambo and Hush.

Miss Divine has put her position behind the decks to good use and launched her festive charity event project, La Vita, over two years ago. The event encompasses what Miss Divine’s vibe is all about; good music, good people and a huge-hearted atmosphere, paying homage to a cause dear to her heart; breast cancer. “Everyone involved with La Vita are proud to provide events people love, while utilizing a great night out to contribute to the fight against cancer.” To date La Vita has amassed an incredible £20 000 for Breakthrough Breast Cancer, and celebrated its second birthday at London’s Lightbox club in March this year, with Defected’s Simon Dunmore and Bomb Squad label manager Micky Slim donating their fancy finger work to the cause.

Recently snapped up by Defected Artist Management, Miss Divine’s essentially been given the platform to fulfil her Spiritual House Music prophecy and she’s in her element. Her first record was Barbara Tucker’s Beautiful People on Strictly Rhythm, so becoming the very first lady of Defected has felt like a surreal but natural move. “I’ve always supported Defected; it’s been my sound from day one and I’m so honoured and grateful to be part of the House music legacy they’ve created.” Her role will see her run promotions on the island, and take Defected’s Saturday night at Pacha in Ibiza to the tilt. ‘It’s a lot more pressure playing with the big boys, I’ve definitely stepped up the game!”

Miss Divine is big on being on the dancefloor too.  Much of what she’s learnt about setting off a club has its genesis from having partied right in the thick of things, and her love for travelling has taken her party-chasing around the world. “The rare occasion I get a weekend off I like to make the most of it. I think it’s important as a DJ to be continually inspired by all types of music, whether you play it or not!” This year, parties in Miami, Berlin, Barcelona and Amsterdam have fuelled her passion for playing. “It’s all about pure connections and experiencing something incredible together!”

With her heart firmly on her sleeve, Miss Divine has a strong vision of where she wants to be in 5 years. “I don’t want to be a superstar-DJ I think that is a bygone era. I want to be respected in the industry as a key player and be the best I can be.” Her ethos to keep building and give back to the dance community sees her hard work continue. She actively communicates with her fans, keeps them moving to her beat with two monthly podcasts and lends her time to the Ibiza Workers Union. She’s indulged herself, trawling though the Defected archives for more sound music knowledge and is teaching herself to produce. “I definitely want to produce my own music; I spend hours on the plane between gigs making beats, its something else to learn so I’m loving it, watch this space!”

Miss Divine’s looking forward to another great summer in the White Isle; with the release of her first mixed compilation for Defected; Defected Pacha 2009, set to kick it off in island style. Her captivating attitude and good energy still abounds with gratitude at having come this far, and with no plans to slow down, there’s no doubting that her impression on House music will be long-lasting and truly Divine.

March Blog

February was such a busy month but so much fun.. I played in Dubai and managed to get a day on the beach in to top up my tan.. It was a fantastic gig on the beach, a few friends from the UK were over on holiday so it was nice to catch up and party with familiar faces.

Next up was Deep club in Geneva, this is one of my favourite clubs that I have played in.  I went to dinner with the owners who were a lovely couple and the resident DJ's Brown S.  After a 3 course meal and plenty of vino we hit the club.  It was the managers birthday so the Brandy was flowing.  I stepped up tot he decks around 1am and had an instant warm reaction from the Dance floor.  The owner had previously told me that its the only club in Geneva where you can play what you want so I did exactly that.  I played a super Ibiza set from Soulful House, Classics, Tech House and even a little Techno which went down an absolute storm. I literally had to be dragged off the decks after 3 hours, the atmopshere was truly amazing.

From one extreme to another I played at Club Graal in Val D'lsere, on my itinerary it said it would take 1 hour and 45 minutes to drive there from Geneva LIES, it took over 3 hours.  I dont think ive ever been so scared in my life, the drive once you get into Val D'lsere was ridiculous, we were literally climbing the alps for ages, with no barriers either side just a sheer drop to nothing.  It was snowing so hard you couldn't even see in front of yourself.  Luckily the gig was worth the drive, it was the 5th anniversary so everyone from the resort came to celebrate.  managed to go Ice Skating before I was due to fly home which finished the trip off nicely!

This week I start my Asia tour so will update you very soon on how that went.

Big Love

My Year So Far...

2009 was my best year yet, with a full diary from start to finish.  The summer was crazy last year what with running the events for Defected as well as DJ'ing at Pacha, Mambo and running my own night at Hush, the winter was just as non stop.  So what better way to recharge the batteries than a holiday so on the 5th of January I jetted off to Thailand, believe it or not the first holiday ive had in 7 years.

I flew into Bangkok where I stayed for 4 days and visited the kings palace, took a trip up the river and shopped till I dropped in Ko Sang Road.  Next I travelled to Koh Samui and instantly fell in love with the island, for a start the Airport is the best ive ever seen in my life, it looks more like a golf course than an airport, so neat and tidy with amazing views.  I stayed at a lively resort in chewang Beach which during the day played really nice deep house and by night turned into a Beach party with fireworks and laterns being let off every 5 minutes.

After 5 days it was time to move on so I flew Koh Phangan which is notoriously famous for its full moon parties and mushroom mountain.. Fortunately I didnt go for a rave up as we were booked into a beach front hut bungalow with a spa only a pebbles throw away.  I had the ultimate relaxing time in Phangan, spent my days lazing by the pool or on the beach reading a book eating fantastic food and then having a massage at the end of the day.  Pure bliss!  After Koh Phangan we travelled to Koh Phi Phi where we spent the rest of the holiday, it was a little chaotic at night time as they have full on beach parties and I didn't go for that but our apartment was amazing with breath taking views so it made up for the horrible noises coming from the beach.

After 3 weeks it was time to come home, I had a wicked time in Thailand and wild definitely not be leaving it so long next time to go on holiday..  One thing that I was very surprised at was how much of the Defected sound is played in certain parts of Thailand.. Defected are certainly IN THE HOUSE Worldwide!!
