Korean BBQ Party
Korean BBQ Party
Me and Gavin always say that a great gig starts with a good meal, now sometimes that can be as simple as a club sandwich and fries in your hotel room OR sometimes it can be the most amazing food you have ever sampled!
After having some serious gastronomic delights on our tour in asia, in KL and SIngapore, we had parted company with Mr Love and Mr Dunmore and hd landed in South Korea.
Now most people associate food in South Korea with the sound of barking! WE DONT.
Our main man Park Jin Hong picked us up outside our hotel at 9.00, we were a bit jetlagged but hungry......he said "what do you fancy?".We said Korean BBQ. Now weve had this a few times in Korea and in Tokyo. You basically order your meat, then its brought to your table raw and you cook it !
Using little grills on your table you can cook Kobi beef to perfection, whilst adding a few pieces of carfully sliced vegables.....the onions are AMAZING.
The meat is accompained with a selection of picked vegetable (Kim
Chee) this is DOPE, and you've got rice and even nettles to wrap the meat in. Not a dog in site. Korean people just laugh when you mention it.
They did bring one special dish, but only Gav tried it so youll have to ask him !
The funny thing is, as you are eating small portions you dont realise how much you are eating ! Its only when you look back at the empty plates you notice.
It a great way to eat and have a good chat ! Especially when its washed down with a couple of cool Carlsbergs.
We hit the club and the club was as good as the food......2000 smiling people ready to party...and so were we .....with happy Bellies!!!!!
From Lisbon, Bordeaux to Nuremberg with LOVE
It's Tuesday morning, were sitting in the studio with a coffee and reflecting on another whirlwind weekend !
It started on Thursday night in Lisbon, hot off the back of a studio session with MC Tali. We legged it to terminal 5 to head to Portugal.
The opening party of our 12 date tour for Ballentines Whisky over there.
The opening night was held in an underground car park, as we turned up at the venue, we knew it was going to be a good party as there were over 1000 people outside. Thats what happens when you offer free whisky to the VIP's of Lisbon! Kaos ruled!
We had a chat with Portuguese TV , and a couple of radio interviews.
Time for a Ballentines on ice.
This was a special night, not only was the party jam packed, my mum & dad flew in from the Algarve to party. We took to the decks at 2.00 am after Abigail Bailey warmed the crowd up. As the opening beats of our La Mezcla Remix boomed out, the 2,000 people warmed with Whisky went ballistic.......here we go !!!
The capacity was meant to be 1500, and at 4.00 am Jaou our agent came over and said....'Amazing night....but one small problem there are 3000 people here now!..........we need more whisky !!!'
As the crowd was peaking.........they ran out of Whisky, so we had to end early ...in all our years of djing, this really was ending on a high note.........amazing night.....3000 people shouting for one more.
Straight to the hotel, 2 hours kip and then heading off to
Bordeaux..............4 episodes of entourage later and we are landing in France.....I land with the news that Liverpool have lost as a result of a dodgy beachball goal............not good...I always seem to be in the air when something like this happens......its straight to the hotel for some afternoon kip......
We have dinner with our good friend Steve.........some serious rissotto action and a nice glass of bordeaux...were ready again for the party.
Were at Le Plage, we arrive at the club to find out the main dj booth which is normally a massive wall of lights and visuals has a technical problem so we are playing in another booth half way down the club.
Its in a really intimate position, and as we climb upto the booth we hear a few cheers....its going to be a good one...We love Bordeaux....
The club is rocking and the set flies by..........we finish off with Atrak and Van Helden Duck Sauce.........but thats not enough for the owner....he shouts for one more........we drop Bob Sinclars new mix of Ultra Nate free and its smashes it !
We hang for a few photos and then its back to the hotel for some well earned kip.........next stop Nurenberg.
We have to connect in Amsterdam to get to Nurenberg, and we have a 2 hour connection which means one thing......lunch at our favourite Noodle bar in Schipol..........after a top lunch we jump on the plane to Nurenberg......Germany he we come.
We get some kip again and then head down to Mach 1, we know the guys really well here and are greeted with the usual warm reception.....after a quick Vodka tonic we are straight on the decks........some of our mates from adidas are down.........they are going mad......and getting the jagermeister in..........good vibes all round.....the crowd are up for it and we try out a few new demos.............Someday rocks it.....who said the Germans dont like vocal house !!!!!
The night comes to an end and we our on our last legs........we head back to the hotel passing by another club 'indabahn' to see our mate Phillipe Gonzales spinning for half an hour........
We hit the sack, 2 hours kip then straight up for a 2 hours drive to Stuttgart, we have a kip and good laugh with the Driver Volkan......top man, and a top driver..........the autobahn is like a video game ! FAST...........
We land at Heathrow............a quick flash of the eyes in the IRIS machine and we are on the way home......next stop ADE...........

What is your earliest musical memory?
Sam: Dancing round my bedroom to pop music until I went dizzy. My dancing has gone downhill ever since. I had this dope tape deck that I loved. I think my mum still uses it.
