Danism
What is your earliest musical memory?
Dan Liquid: I remember trying to make sounds with my BBC Micro computer some time in the early 80's.
Dan Nu:Tone: LIstening to 'Aja' by Steely Dan on repeat in my parents' car.
Tell us about your first ever DJ gig/live performance...
DL: I got back from Ibiza having caught the house music bug - i had been DJing at parties for friends and a guy i knew was opening a club in Cambridge. He liked my sets and asked me to play for him.
DN: I first started playing out in clubs when i was at University. The club I played at was subsequently named as the 'Second Worst Club in Europe', but I assure you that had nothing to do with my music selection!
Who or what inspired you to start a career in music
DL: Living in london as a student, being a part of the rave generation, flying to Ibiza and thinking 'I want to be a part of this'.
DN: I knew from the age of 8 that i wanted to be a musician. It wasn't until my late teens that I focused on the idea of being a producer/dj. I haven't looked back since.
What do you consider to be your greatest professional achievement?
DL: Learning to juggle three eggs.
DN: How can I follow that!?!
Any advice for budding young stars..?
DL: Just do what you do and keep loving the music. Don't be swayed by this phase and that phase - if you keep doing what you do and get better and better, you will reach the promised land!
DN: Work work work. The more time and effort you put into your music, the better you'll become. My Grandad once told me that an overnight success takes seven years. I think he was onto something there.
