Miss Divine

What is your earliest musical memory?

Getting a Tina Turner Album and Walkman for Christmas when I was 7 years old. I played that album to death.

Tell us about your first ever DJ gig/live performance...

I entered a DJ competition when I was 20 years old in my local club.  I came first and won a residency at the club, I went on to be promotions manager and resident DJ.

Who or what inspired you to start a career in music?

Lisa Pin Up was my inspiration, I remember seeing her at Bristol Academy and I was in awe of her, the way she worked the crowd and literally hand them eating out of her hand.  I hadn't seen that before and it really touched me.  After that I couldn't stop thinking about it and started collecting records.

What do you consider to be your greatest professional achievement?

Raising £20,000 for Breakthrough Breast cancer through running my club night La Vita, which raises awareness and money for the charity.

Any advice for budding young stars..?

Stick to you roots and be true to yourself, don't listen to criticism unless it’s positive.  Things that don't kill you will only make you stronger. Gain as much musical knowledge as you can, this is just as important as being technically good.  Being a good DJ comes as a package, its not just about playing records.
