David Penn
What is your earliest musical memory?
I’ve been around music since I was just a child. My father listened a lot of music every day.
Tell us about your first ever DJ gig/live performance...
My first performance was in a music school playing classical piano and my first professional performance was on Top of the Pops in the UK with my group Kadoc for our single ‘The Night Train’. My first DJ gig was in a really small club where the owner was my friend; nothing glamorous but I learnt a lot there, and my first professional gig was in Salsitas, Barcelona with my friend Toni Bass (my partner in Deux).
Who or what inspired you to start a career in music?
My parents always let me help to study music. Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and Earth Wind & FIre where probably my first inspirations.
What do you consider to be your greatest professional achievement?
Every year I have more and more great professional moments, so I think the greatest moment has yet to come, but some of my recent special achievements were this year playing for Defected in Miami and in Pacha Ibiza with the master Frankie Knuckles.
Any advice for budding young stars..?
Believe in what you are doing and work hard to be able to achieve your dreams.
