What is your earliest musical memory?
Probably sitting on a float parading down the street in Turkey, throwing out sweets to the crowd while the band marched ahead of us - just an average Monday.
Tell us about your first ever DJ gig/live performance...
I must have been around 13 yrs old. I'd persuaded my parents to hire a church hall so that I could invite all my school friends and DJ for them. I charged them £2 each and at least 100 kids came.
The £200 I earned bought me my first DJ console and the dream was set on its course.
Who or what inspired you to start a career in music?
Again in Turkey when I was about 11 yrs old, my family were at the local disco (don't ask me what I was doing there!) and I heard music being mixed together by the DJ and couldn't understand how he was doing it. I asked my Uncle to take me over to the booth so we could watch - I've been transfixed ever since
What do you consider to be your greatest professional achievement?
Over the past couple of years there have been a lot. Saturday nights in Pacha Ibiza, The Essential Mix, a No.1 on Beatport and still staying relevant as a DJ and producer after more than 10 years are all big things to me. More than anything though it's been the ability to raise a family comfortably by doing what I love and have always dreamt of doing.
Any advice for budding young stars..?
If it ever feels like work, you might as well get a job.
