What is your earliest musical memory?

Sam: Dancing round my bedroom to pop music until I went dizzy. My dancing has gone downhill ever since. I had this dope tape deck that I loved. I think my mum still uses it.

Tell us about your first ever DJ gig/live performance...

Sam: The first Copyright gig was in Manchester at Out in the Sticks. There were three of us then, with our good friend Scotti De la Hoya. It was a crazy night with all three of us crammed into a tiny DJ booth. Great night, packed to the rafters and our One Track Minds single ‘Where Would You Be?’ was huge at the time…happy days.

Who or what inspired you to start a career in music?

Sam: I realised from an early age that this was the best chance of avoiding doing a real job! Living near Manchester it was hard not to get sucked into the rave culture in the late 80's. In the nineties it was a very cool place to live and DJ.

What do you consider to be your greatest professional achievement?

Sam: Lasting more than 10 years in the business.

Any advice for any budding young stars..?

Sam: Do your own thing and people will notice you. Dig deep to find new music, and always send Copyright your dopest new productions!
